Women shun SIPPs for occupational pensions

Women account for just 15% of SIPP sales, according to research by James Hay.

The figures, based on the provider’s own sales records, show men buy 85% of its SIPPs. James Hay says the research shows a disproportionately low percentage of women buying the products as Government statistics reveal 38% of working women contribute to a private pension, compared to 46% of men. Chris Smeaton, propositions and e-commerce manager at James Hay, says: “It’s mainly a wealth thing.
