Emerging markets 'will dominate global economy'

Emerging markets will account for a third of the world's economy within the next decade - with ETFs the most popular way to access them, investment specialists argue.

During a roundtable organised by Lyxor Asset Management, managers at Baring Asset Management (Barings), Rathbones and the London Stock Exchange (LSE) agreed emerging markets across the globe are experiencing an “awesome” secular trend while nations such as China will soon dominate the global economy. Percival Stanion, head of asset allocation at Barings, says the weighting of emerging markets - plus Hong Kong and Singapore - in the MSCI All Country World Index is set to rise from more than 11% of market capitalisation at present to a third over the next decade as their economies take thei...
