Following yesterday's big jump the FTSE this morning is up about 1 point to 4,515, holding above the 4,500 level for the first time since July 2002.
Shell is up 5.25p to 357.25p as investors continue a buying spree started yesterday. The company may have an option to increase its ownership stake in one of China’s biggest oil companies. Hays is up 1.5p to 143.75p on continued speculation Manpower may bid for the company. Royal Bank of Scotlan,which yesterday reported profits of £6.5bn, is up another 4p to 1,734p. Yesterday it rose 95p. BEA Systems is down 6.5p to 180.5p after reports in German press this morning the government’s of Germany and the UK may be considering cutting back on commitments to buy new Eurofighter jets. ...
