N Ireland protection gap 'huge'

Half of people in Northern Ireland believe life insurance is the most important type of insurance, suggests research.

A survey by Legal & General of 1,011 adults in Northern Ireland reveals only 50% of people rank life insurance as the most important type of insurance, followed by home and contents insurance (32%) and motor insurance (11%). Of the 50% who rank life insurance as important, 24% do not have any cover at all, while 60% of those interviewed do not have any form of critical illness (CI) cover and 78% do not have income protection (IP) cover.
