Survey reveals UK protection and savings gap

Half of the population would be penniless in less than a month if their income dried up suggests research from AXA Life.

A new survey shows almost half the population (45%) has not purchased any form of protection cover (including life insurance, critical illness or income protection) and only a third of the UK population believe they have any sort of financial provision in place to cover their mortgage. Half of all adults (49%) have less than £1,000 in savings and investments with three-quarters (72%) saving less than £100 a month and half of these saving nothing for the longer term.
