Royal Liver ends Royal London merger talks

Royal Liver has ended merger talks with Royal London, according to a statement.

A spokesman for Royal Liver tells IFAonline: “The problem with trying to put those organisations together is they’ve got a very different membership basis and a joint model of membership basis was a challenging task. It’s nothing to do with two different strategies.” A statement from Royal London says: “The board of Royal Liver has concluded that although the proposal from Royal London had considerable merits for their members, they felt that those interests will be better served by pursuing an independent strategy.” Royal London approached Royal Liver at the end of April.
