FTSE takes early knock

The FTSE 100 has plunged 24.60 points (0.44%) this morning to 5503.50, with mining and resources companies leading the fall.

Mining giant Kazakhmys has made the biggest loss so far, tumbling 3.73% behind to 1289p. The London Stock Exchange Group has not entered much better, down 3.09% to 736.5p. Tullow Oil has slipped 2.75% to 794.5p, while Vedanta Resources and Eurasian have declined by 2.75% and 2.68% respectively. However, HBOS is currently topping the leader board, climbing 2.9% to 301.75p. BT Group is hot on HBOS’ heels, rising 2.78% to 169.9p. Kingfisher, Hammerson and British Land Co complete the mixed bag of leaders. In New York, the Dow Jones had a good day, steadily climbing to tail off mid afte...
