SMOKERS IN their 40s are more likely to die in their 60s than non-smokers, according to a life insurance report published in the Guardian .

Figures compiled from every life assurance company in the UK by the Continuous Mortality Investigation Bureau reveal a generation of smokers are widening the gap between those who do and those who don’t.Moreover, women may be worse off than men when it comes to the "excess mortality" caused by smoking, as their mortality level hits 117%, compared with some business male smokers which have a 100% higher level of mortality.
