First State moves on new offshore rules

Investors classed as onshore UK tax residents will gain access to three Dublin-domiciled variable capital sub-funds of the First State Global Umbrella fund under new rules governing offshore funds.

The new regime allows providers to apply for UK distributor status annually on a sub-fund or share class basis, opening the way for onshore investors to tap into existing offshore vehicles. On offer are the First State Asian Growth, Greater China Growth and China Growth funds, managed respectively by Alistair Thompson and Martin Lau.
