FTSE follows Wall Street slump

After a disappointing day yesterday, the FTSE continues its decline, falling 16.60 points (0.31%) to 5399.00.

The blue chip index ended the day down 30.70 points (0.56%) to 5415.60. Today, ITV is currently top of the winners table, despite news it could be set to lose its blue-chip status in the latest quarterly reshuffle of the FTSE 100 index. Johnson Matthey has made a 2.48% gain, while Invensys and Petrofac have both made approximately 1.5%. Ent Inns, Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Group, Marks and Spencer Group and Carnival are all in the red in early trading. Old Mutual has also sustained losses, following a $153 write-down in stock held by its US life business in Fannie Mae and Freddie ...
