Skandia launches IHT guide as liable estates double

Skandia has launched two guides to IHT planning after Government data suggested the number of estates exposed to the tax has doubled.

According to HMRC data, the number of estates facing an IHT liability has more than doubled from approximately 18,000 in 1997/98 to approximately 37,000 in 2006/7. Skandia says although public concern about IHT has grown in similar proportions, knowledge and understanding may have fallen behind.
