Retailer pushes FTSE up

The benchmark FTSE 100 ended the day up 6.7 points at 4,553.8 after UK stocks rose for the second day in three, paced by retailer GUS.

GUS added 22.5p to 753p after Merrill Lynch analyst Nick Hawkins raised his recommendation to "buy" from "neutral". British Airways rose 4.25p to 332.25p after an analyst at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in Madrid boosted his 12-month share-price forecast with 12% to 380p. Center Parcs UK Group dropped 7p to 97p despite the holiday resorts operator reporting the outbreak of gastroenteritis at its Longleat Forest site being under control. Lloyds TSB Group lost 12.5p to 442p after Goldman Sachs cut its recommendation on the European banking industry. Psion also gained 3.5p to 6...
