FTSE makes a post-Easter leap

The FTSE 100 has made a significant start to the week straight after the Easter break is currently up over the 4500 market again after UK stocks made gains led by William Hill and Standard Chartered.

William Hill rose 13p to 530p after the bookmaker joined the FTSE 100 Index last Thursday, but this morning pushed the index back over the 4500 mark after gaining 27 points to 4,516 . Standard Chartered, the London-listed lender with major business holdings in the Far East, gained 16p to 925p. In Asia, Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index gained 85.12 points to 12,127.82 earlier today, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index advanced 124.32 points to 13,033.69.
