UK savers to put cash under the mattress

A poll for Channel 4 News found almost half of all UK consumers believe their bank accounts are less secure than they were a year ago. A total of 16% of those surveyed said they had either withdrawn their savings from their bank or building society account, or are considering such action. The poll also found the public’s confidence in the safety of their savings has declined over the past year, with 45% saying their savings are less safe than they were a year ago.
