Cadbury Schweppes gained on an analyst recommendation this morning, helping send the FTSE 100 index up about 7 points to 4,420.
The maker of soft drinks added 8p to 431.25p after Morgan Stanley said the price did not reflect a turnaround in its fortunes. Retail stocks have been in demand. Dixons is up 2.5p to 153p, and GUS is up 11.5p to 745p. BP up 6.75p to 463.75p has again led the oil and gas sector after spot prices gained overnight on expectations oil cartel OPEC will look to limit price rises, but will not close the taps enough to institute oil price falls. Royal & Sun Alliance is up 0.75p to 82.75p after Merrill Lynch analysts upgraded the stock to ‘neutral’ from ‘sell’. Investors have fallen o...
