Buying protection insurance through a financial adviser does not reduce the risk of claims being declined by insurers, according to research from Prudential.
The joint study of IFAs and 2,065 adults suggests more than 1.6 million Britons have had protection insurance claims rejected in the past five years, with an average failed claim value of £26,435, equating to £43.9bn in rejected claims across Britain. The research says buying insurance through a financial adviser “isn’t any better”, as one in 10 IFAs who responded to the survey said their client’s insurance claims have been rejected in the past two years.
