Royal Liver calls for further clarity on PTA

Progress from Royal Liver is calling for further clarification on pension term assurance, warning several outstanding issues remain around tax relief following the Pre-Budget Report.

In particular, it is still unclear whether a client put on risk before 6 December will be allowed to keep their tax relief on monthly premiums payable from December until the end of the current tax year. Andy Milburn, IFA market manager at Progress from Royal Liver, says it is also not clear what happens if a client pays annually and paid their first premium on 6 December, or where the instruction to go on risk was “as soon as possible” for cases submitted before 5 December but it was not actioned until 6 December onwards.
