Tate & Lyle maintained its position as top winner today, closing at 580p after a 26 point, or 4.69%, climb. Kazakhmys surged 55 points, or 4.21%, to £13.60. Xstrata soared 94 points, or 2.88%, to £33.60. Antofagasta climbed 18 points, or 2.71%, to 681.5p. Rolls-Royce Group rose 14 points, or 2.54%, to 565p. The housing sector suffered this afternoon as Persimmon and Barratt Developments fell.
