Persimmon results build FTSE up

The FTSE 100 is up 37.6 points, or 0.59%, to 6,439.1 in early trading, following positive trading statements from Persimmon and AB Foods.

Associated British Foods is posting the biggest gains with a rise of 3.72% to 837.5p, closely followed by building group Persimmon which is up 3.3% to 314.71, while International Power has added 2.5% to 388.75p. Insurer Old Mutual is also up 2.48% to 186p after it announced its full year results, while Intercontinental Hotels has added 2.37% to £12.54, although BSkyB is among the stocks dragging the FTSE lower with a drop of 0.44% to 562p. Whitbread is the biggest faller with a drop of 0.76% to £16.95, closely followed by Lloyds TSB which has slipped 0.76% to 597.5p, while British Airwa...
