Slow start in London

In the UK the FTSE 100 Index has shed about 7 points to 4,857.70 points this morning, led by WPP group.

The advertising company has shed 12.50p to 588p, after analysts announced its shares to be ‘overweight’. Reuters Group is also down 6.75p to 410.25p. Leading gains, engineering firm Smiths Group has picked up 25.50p to 870p this morning. British American Tobacco is also up 19p to 982.50p. The Nikkei 225 Stock Average shed 0.3% to 11,035.83 at its close early this morning, led by Sony. The global brand has dropped 2.3% to 3,900 yen after a report that its profits will fall from last year's figure. Sony announces results tomorrow. Car manufacturer Honda also lost 1.5% to 5,190 yen...
