UK-listed shares are struggling to hold their ground on the FTSE 100 index this morning, despite strong gains for Aviva on the back of its new business figures.
The FTSE 100 is down 25.5 points, or 0.39%, to 6,454.2, led by Yell which has fallen 19.51% to 493p, over concerns about its US business after it warned revenue growth would only be around 3% instead of the forecast 6-8% because of ‘intense competition’. Insurer Aviva is up share rise of 14.5p or 1.87% to 790p, after the company reported new business rose to £7.75bn from £6.79bn, while its first-quarter life and pension sales rose 14%, helped by its purchase of AmerUs Group in the US.
