In London, markets climbed after a poor end to last week, with the FTSE 100 adding 81.3 points (1.47%) to 5,611.2.
Cobham shares added 11.4 points (6.12%) to 197.8p, while Vodaphone gained 7.45 (5.26%) to 149.15p. ITV was the biggest loser, dropping 2.7 points (5.66%) to 44.8p, while Friends Provident shares declined 3.8 points (3.58%) to 102.2p. Wall Street markets made a slight recovery in early trading on Monday despite rising oil prices and the Dow Jones added 49.83 points (0.44%) to 11,396.34. Verizon shares made the biggest early gains, up 0.95 (2.77%) to $35.23, while Merck added 1.01 (2.73%) to $37.99.
