FTSE struggles to get the Party started

The FTSE 100 Index has lost 1.8 points, or less than 0.1%, to 5699.2 points this morning, led by PartyGaming.

PartyGaming has fallen 7.25p, or 7%, to 95.75p. Shares of Betonsports - a rival online betting company - were suspended after the company and chief executive David Carruthers were indicted on racketeering conspiracy charges. SABMiller has added 13.5p, or 1.4%, to 950p and Kelda has climbed 12.5p, or 1.5%, to 822.5p. Standard Chartered has risen 13p, or 1%, to 1,263p on news it is in talks to buy a stake worth more than $500m in Pakistan's Union Bank. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 Stock Average fell 408.00 points, or 2.8%, to 14,437.24 points on concern continued fighting between Israel and...
