FTSE travels south

After a phenomenal day yesterday and a positive start this morning, the FTSE slumped, ending the day down 30.70 points (0.56%) to 5415.60.

Once again, the main losers were from the resources and energy sectors. Kazakhmys earned the day’s dubious honour of being the biggest loser, plummeting 92.5p (9.28%) to 904.5p. Eurasian slipped 8.69% to 762p, while Cairn Energy tumbled 7.78% to 2477p. However, travel companies are flying high with British Airways soaring 4.05% to 263.25p and Carnival cruising to 2099p, up 4.01%. TUI Travel is has also climbed 3.02% to 230p. Today’s most successful company is the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, gaining 16.75p (6.85%) to 261.25p. ITV has added 4.09% to 45.8p. Looking Stateside, the Dow ...
