Land Registry goes 'e'

Electronic conveyancing services accessible by all parties to property or land transactions will become reality by 2007 the Land Registry (LR) promises today after the government announced its endorsement of the plans.

When implemented, the system should significantly speed up the process of buying properties, including residential homes, as solicitors and others will have electronic access to LR documents. According to the plans: the LR will develop and operate the central e-conveyancing service which will link all participants in a conveyancing transaction, co-ordinating key milestones of exchange and completion, and updating the Land Register; access to the service will be via public and private channels: the LR will develop and implement its own basic channel access and will encourage the devel...
