FTSE slips as bank boss leaves

The FTSE 100 Index has slipped 0.1% to 5707.2 this morning led by drops in HBOS and Royal Bank of Scotland Group stocks.

HBOS has declined 0.7% to 969p and Royal Bank of Scotland has fallen 0.5% to 1,810p after HBOS announced chief executive officer James Crosby is stepping down and it has hired a Royal Bank executive for its retail business. Meanwhile, Amvescap, the manager of Invesco and Aim funds, has risen 1.9% to 462.25p. BP has also risen 0.3% to 636p and Royal Dutch Shell has risen 0.3% to 1,834p as oil is trading at an 11 year high. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 Stock Average gained 63.38 points, or 0.4%, to 16,425.37 following gains in technology, electronics and car manufacturing shares in the U...
