FTSE not in the mood for Compass

In the UK, the FTSE 100 index has lost ground this morning, dropping 12.5 points to 4737.3.

Catering giant Compass Group reported slow second-half results, resulting in a net income of £127m compared with £128m a year earlier. Compass has lost 11.5p or 4.5% to 229.5p, blaming unprofitable school-lunch contracts and costs for opening in-store restaurants for its poor returns. Cairn Energy has also slipped 45p to 1492p. But morning gains have been made by Enterprise Inns, lifting 16.5p to 679p while BAE Systems is up 3p to 250p.
