Miners lead FTSE losses

After another bad day for mining and resources companies, the FTSE has tumbled 121.40 points (2.26%) to end 5240.70.

Johnson Matthey is the biggest loser, down 8.15% to 1441p while Kazakhmys slides 8.15% to 975.5p. Eurasian, Ferrexpo and Antofagasta have also made losses today. On a brighter note, Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Group lead the winners table, rising 2.91% to 162.0p. Cadbury has also made some sweet gains, up 2.25% to 636p. Looking Stateside, the Dow made a swift decline but has started fighting back currently down 17.01 points (0.15%) to 11171.22. Alcoa has made the biggest loss so far, shedding 2.59% to 27.82, while Chevron Corporation is just behind, with a 2.07% decline to 79.54. ...
