FTSE hot on copper prices

Mining shares such as BHP Billiton led gains after copper prices climbed for the fifth day in six. BHP, the world's largest mining company, increased 30.5p, or 3.5%, to 891p. Copper for delivery in three months on the London Metal Exchange gained 1.5% to $3,780 a metric ton after a decline in global stockpiles renewed concern that demand may exceed supply. Rio Tinto, the world's third-biggest mining company, climbed 97p, or 4.5% to 2,266p. Antofagasta, the owner of three copper mines in Chile, advanced 43p, or 2.9%, to 1,545p.
