Average IFA 'to retire at 62'

The average IFA plans to retire at 62, according to research from financial services company MetLife.

More than a third of advisers aim to retire by 60 and about 15% plan to stop working at 55. A minority of 8% say they will never retire and 9% intend to work past 65. The research also shows 13% of IFAs intend to rely on conventional annuities while another 13% intend to use property investment as their main source of retirement income. Income drawdown is the most popular source of retirement income, favoured by 46%.
