FTSE reaches seven year high

The FTSE 100 ended the day near a seven-year high closing up 82.5 points, or 1.24%, to 6732.4.

Lonmin saw the biggest gains, rising 192 points, or 4.83%, to £41.69. Wolseley followed with a gain of 4.57% and closed on £13.28, while Sainsbury’s followed close behind with a rise of 25 pence, or 4.42% to 590p. Shire Ord and Anglo American also saw share values climb to £12.23 and £31.63 respectively. Huge gains were slightly offset by some minor losses with Detica losing 1.73% to end the day on 398.75p. Drax continued to perform badly and shares fell 1.36%, to 763.5p, followed by Cadbury Schweppes, which saw share prices fall by 0.77% to 709.5p. The Dow Jones made great strides i...
