The UK's FTSE 100 Index has climbed 34.2 points to 4767.2 points, buoyed by the Christmas stock cheer in the US.
Amvescap has increased 6.25p to 309p, while old Mutual has also climbed 2.50p to 132.50p. Reuters is also doing well advancing 6.75p to 375p. The company agreed to buy Moneyline Telerate for $175m in cash and stock to help it offer a bond trading system. Energy firm United Utilities, meanwhile, has shed 15.50p to 617.50p. In Tokyo, stocks climbed led by Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. The Nikkei 225 Stock Average increased 0.8% to 11,209.44, while computer chip related firm, Shin-Etsu added 2.2% to 4,150 yen.
