The FTSE 100 settled at 4332 points by close of business on Thursday, up 0.4% or 19.8 points.
The FTSE 250 index was also up 10 points or 0.1% to5869.40 while the FTSE All-Share index gained 0.4% or 8.82 points to 2149.96. Even though there was still no profit, Royal & SunAlliance revealed better than anticipated financial results, which left its share price up 3.64% to 71.25p. R&SA's pre-tax profits did fall 14% to £301m - less than previous losses – thanks to asset sales it made to boost capital and money it had lost on investments. Aviva shares also dropped 1.56% or 8p to 504p and Sabmiller beer company shares fell 15.50p or 2.27% to 668p. Accounting software group Sage ...
