The FTSE 100 closed down 1.18% at 6050.1 as a big slide on Wall Street and weakness at BAE Systems on contract loss fears left just a handful of UK stocks in the black on Monday, with the leading index down at its lowest of the day.
BAE Systems finished deep in the red down 3.10% to 391p on reports that Saudi Arabia has threatened to scrap an order for 72 Eurofighters unless the SFO drops an investigation into corruption into previous contracts from the Kingdom won by UK firms. In the US the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 95.17 points, or 0.8%, to 12,185 after a decline in the dollar for a fifth day underscored concern that growth in the world's largest economy is faltering.
