FTSE flat despite buoyant banks

The FTSE 100 has opened flat this morning despite another strong start for the banks, with London's blue-chip index remaining at its Friday close of 4,092.80.

Lloyds Banking Group and the Royal Bank of Scotland are both again enjoying solid advances after Friday's double-digit percentage gains. Lloyds is currently 6.41% higher to 111.30p, while RBS is 3.98% ahead to 34p. BT Group is also having a positive morning, up 4.59% to 95.80p. However, Standard Life's reassurance over its capital position over the weekend has failed to boost investor optimism so far, with the insurer leading the losses - down 2.96% to 193.1p. Property groups Hammerson and Liberty International are also among the early declines, down 2.75% to 291.50p and 2.26% to 453....
