Fewer than 2% of companies measure the return they achieve on their pensions in terms of improved employee and corporate performance, according to research by consultancy Alexander Forbes Financial Services.
The research shows the same percentage fail to understand their pension schemes’ impact on shareholder value but they do regard pension provision as an important part of their corporate and social responsibility. Three quarters see enabling their staff to retire with financial security as the single most important reason for providing a pension and 64% call it part of their corporate and social responsibility.
