Trott to meet Landsbanki depositors

Guernsey's chief minister has announced surprise plans to take part in a public meeting with Landsbanki Guernsey depositors.

Savers in the offshore bank are still without 70% of their savings after its Icelandic parent collapsed in October last year. Deputy Lyndon Trott made his announcement on BBC Radio Guernsey saying he and the Policy Council said they are 'extremely empathetic' to the plight of the depositors in the islands. "This is encouraging and at this meeting we are looking forward to the States to have more on offer than just tea and sympathy," says Janson Bewey, a spokesman for local depositors in Landsbanki Guernsey.
