Crown Dependencies could benefit as G20 cracks down on rivals

Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man are cautiously optimistic they will not be blacklisted in the G20 crackdown on tax havens and hope the islands could benefit as other jurisdictions come under the spotlight.

Gordon Brown has joined other European leaders in backing a crackdown against 'uncooperative' international financial centres, including offshore jurisdictions. "We want the whole of the world to take action. That will mean action against regulatory and tax havens in parts of the world which have escaped the regulatory attention they need," says Brown.
