Guernsey has moved up four places in the latest Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI) to 12th place, overtaking Jersey which has dropped a place to 13th.
Previously Guernsey was in 16th place, while Jersey was ahead in 14th in the last survey published in September 2008. The islands are both ahead of their competitor jurisdictions. Luxembourg came in 14th place, the Isle of Man 18th, Cayman Islands 22nd and the British Virgin Islands in 34th place. Produced by the Z/Yen Group for the City of London, the report ranks financial centres based on external benchmarking data and current perceptions of competitiveness.
