Two thirds of IFAs consider offshore bonds

Nearly two thirds of advisers are contemplating using offshore bonds as the sector becomes increasingly mainstream, research suggests.

According to a study by Legal & General (L&G) International, six in ten advisers have either recommended offshore bonds over the past year or would consider doing so in the coming months. L&G says the offshore bond sector is becoming a "mainstream" consideration for IFAs advising clients on tax and investment planning. The L&G study also found almost half of advisers recommending offshore bonds believe "greater investment flexibility" is the reason the sector has held up well in 2008 compared to its onshore counterparts.
