Jersey will sign a Tax Information Exchange Agreement (TIEA) with the UK following mounting pressure from G20 countries to blacklist countries and jurisdictions which do not cooperate in sharing tax information.
Jersey will join other UK crown dependencies when the island's chief minister Terry Le Suer and the UK's financial secretary Stephen Timms signs the bi-lateral agreement. Under the TIEA, offshore territories agree to cooperate on tax matters by exchanging and requesting tax information. Timms says: "Exchange of information and transparency between countries and territories is vital in combating tax avoidance and evasion."
