Aquila Capital launches farm property development fund

Aquila Capital has launched the AC Agri Opportunity fund (AOF) investing in farm properties in Brazil, Australia and New Zealand.

It is targeting annual returns of more than 20% over a minimum of five years and seeks investment of up to $400m, with a first capital raising of $100m. Ex-CEO of Cargill Germany Detlef Schoen will run the fund, hand-picking farms he deems under-funded and poorly managed and where he sees an opportunity to add value. He will introducing hands-on managers with proven track records to the farms as well as systems to sustainably increase productivity and production system arbitrage.
