Seeing friends and family tops expat Xmas wish list

British expats miss family the most at Christmas, but those based abroad for more than 20 years miss carol singers more, according to Alliance & Leicester International.

While many expats embrace a 'barbecue on the beach' Christmas dinner, research shows most believe it does not make up for being unable to spend the festive season with family and friends. Perhaps unsurprisingly, 40% of expats missed family the most and 28% their friends, while a quarter said UK Christmas traditions such as carol singers and roasted chestnuts topped their 'most missed' list.
