A court victory for Leeds United could prompt a "significant upturn" in litigation against financial services firms in Jersey, as access to the island's justice system is broadened, according to law firm Sinels.
It will now be easier for individuals and companies outside Jersey to take legal action against financial businesses on the island, after the Jersey Court of Appeal dismantled the "security for costs" rule in a law case involving Leeds United. Leeds United employed Jersey-based Admatch to handle payment for Leeds season tickets and accused the firm of wrongly withholding over £190,000.
