The sale of iShares to CVC Capital Partners is looking less likely as Barclays seems to be leaning towards a sale of BGI as a whole. It was reported in the Financial Times today that private-equity firm BC Partners has "downed tools" on its planned counter-bid for iShares after Barclays failed to confirm that it is still interested in a sale of just the iShares division of BGI. BlackRock is seen as the front-runner for BGI, with BNY Mellon and Vanguard also rumoured to be considering an approach.
