US mutual fund net redemptions for July reached $49bn, beating the previous monthly record of $30bn in September 2001, according to research by Lipper. The group believes this signals the fact US investors have reached what it termed 'emotional breaking point' and probably represents a significant bottom to the market. The July redemption figure represents 1.6% of mutual fund assets.
