Michael Foot, managing director of the Financial Services Authority, has been awarded a CBE for services to financial regulation, alongside the author of the Myners' Report, in this year's New Year Honours List. But there are only a handful of CBEs, MBEs, OBEs and knighthoods for members of the UK financial services industry this time. Paul Myners was the man whose review of occupational pension funds in summer 2001 signalled major changes were on the way to the UK pensions industry, and is said to have been awarded his honour "for services to innovation in the financial sector". ...
