Zurich paid out 6% more critical illness (CI) claims in 2008 than 2007, it has revealed. Data from Zurich has shown the number of CI claims paid has increased for the third consecutive year, with 746 claims paid in 2008, compared with 710 paid in 2007 and 702 in 2006. In 2008, Zurich declined 9% of claims, with 0.4% declined due to non-disclosure, while 8.6% were declined due to the definition not being met, compared with an overall decline rate of 12% in 2007.
