Barclays Global Investors (BGI) has hired former JPMorgan Asset Management (JPMAM) managing director Karen Prooth.
Prooth will assume the role of managing director and European chief operating officer (COO) for iShares, BGI’s ETF brand, and GIMG, which comprises of five business components including index equity, cash management, and securities lending.
Reporting to Rory Tobin, CEO of iShares and GIMG Europe, Prooth will have responsibility for coordinating the operations, technology and finance functions for iShares and GIMG in Europe.
Prior to joining BGI, Karen held the role of managing director at JPMAM where she worked for the past 17 years.
Her roles there included head of risk management EMEA, COO for the International Equity and Balanced Group, and head of performance measurement.
Rory Tobin says: “I am delighted that Karen has joined BGI, she brings a wealth of experience across a broad range of asset management disciplines, including derivatives, trading, risk management, project management, performance measurement and quality control.
“She will be an important member of the team as we look to expand our iShares and GIMG businesses in Europe.”
