Standard Life's former head of European equities, Leon de Jerez, is now in his second year of running Tilney's OneEurope hedge fund. De Jerez, who worked at Standard from 1990-1999, is now chief investment officer at Tilney Capital Management (TCM) and runs its long/short fund. He said: "Basically, the fund is focused on extracting alpha returns. That is, we examine individual stocks with the aim of picking 'long' winners and 'short' losers."
